What is mastering?

Mastering is the process of finalising your mixes –  it’s all about finding the sound that you want, and getting the best you possibly can out of your recording. At DOMC Mastering, we want your tracks to stand proudly on their own, on any audio playback system, shoulder-to-shoulder with any other music your clients may listen to. We offer a dedicated, acoustically-designed monitoring and listening environment, where we promise to shape your sound to the best it can be.

At DOMC Mastering, this can entail many things, like:

  • Corrective EQ
  • Dynamic control
  • Volume optimisation
  • Tone addition
  • Album compilation
  • Cross-track album tonal enhancements (to gain fluidity from one track to the next)

How does it work?

The mastering process starts with your digital recordings.  At DOMC Mastering, we work with these recordings in the digital domain first, then send them to our custom-designed analog signal path.  We then recapture your audio using high-end audio capture devices.  After this is done, we compile your audio into any format and distribute as needed.

Audio formats:

The audio formats that we can deliver are:

Audio Files (WAV, AIFF) up to 192khz
Audio FIles (mp3, flac) up to 320 kbps
AUDIO CD (Redbook standard or any other standard as required)
DDP Images (For those plants that require them)
Data Disk with audio files in the format of your choosing

Digital distribution of all audio files is available using our online file transmission system. For more information on digital formats, see the digital releases section.

Audio Restoration:

DOMC Mastering also specialises in audio restoration. We can take 1/4" tape, DAT, vinyl or cassette, transfer the audio into the digital realm and clean up any unwanted clicks, pops, hiss, noise or hums if needed.
